Fire protection system design – fire mains and sprinklers

Fire protection systems supply water for fighting a fire inside and around a building. They include the internal fire main with hose reels, the external fire main with fire hydrants and automatic sprinkler systems. Which of them a building needs is set by Ordinance No. Iz-1971 according to its use, floor area and height.

    What we offer

We design internal and external fire mains, hydrants and sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and public buildings, including hydraulic calculations and equipment selection. Where the network cannot provide the required flow and pressure, we also design fire pump sets and fire water tanks.

    What we design

    • Internal fire mains with hose reels
    • External fire mains and fire hydrants
    • Sprinkler systems – wet and dry pipe
    • Deluge systems
    • Alarm valve stations and interface with fire detection

    Fire pump sets and tanks

    • Fire pump sets with a standby pump
    • Fire water tanks for buildings, warehouses and industrial sites
    • Tank volume sized to the fire flow and firefighting duration

    Building types

    • Shopping centres and retail
    • Warehouses and logistics centres
    • Industrial buildings
    • Public buildings – schools, hospitals, offices
    • Hotels and mixed-use buildings
    • Underground car parks

    Coordination and approval

We coordinate the fire protection system with the fire safety design, the architecture and the other engineering disciplines and support the approval process.

    Frequently asked questions

Do you design fire mains and sprinklers?

Yes. We design internal and external fire mains, hydrants and sprinkler systems – as a standalone design or together with the building's water and sewerage design.

When is a sprinkler system required?

When Ordinance No. Iz-1971 requires it, depending on the building's use, floor area, height and fire load – typically large retail and storage areas, underground car parks and high-rise buildings.

When is a fire water tank needed?

When the water network cannot provide the required fire flow and pressure – often for warehouses, industrial buildings and sites outside settlements. We then design a tank and a fire pump set.
